Console with three shelves/trays by Edgar Brandt (1880-1960). The shelves are made of black relacquered wood. The four squared legs are made of hammered metal in a palm shape. Stamped on a leg: “E. Brandt”, France, 1920s Dimensions: H 90 cm, L 108 cm, D 45 cm The console is fully symmetrical so it does not need to be put against a wall and can be displayed in the middle of a room as a centre table. Edgar Brandt is the most famous French iron designer of the 1920s. He opened the first decorative art gallery in Paris in the 1920s and expanded in London and New York. He collaborated with Ruhlmann and exposed at the famous 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris where he was one of the star designers. His creation epitomized the Art Deco 1920s style and his metal work is always of the highest quality.
