Early 19th century painted pine blanket box circa 1828.
Fine example of the traditional method of storage in sweden, utilising the plentiful pine and hand decorating.
Rectangular box with a flat lid, which makes it ideal to double up as a coffee table. Hand painted in a plum red with simulated grain effect over the top. Initialed on the front k.E.D and dated 1828.
Original metal work. Working lock and key. Lid opens to reveal a plain interior with fitted candle box.
Expected minor shrinkage but structurally sound. Clear fading to paintwork.
