Fine quality example of Swedish hand painted folk art in the form of a cupboard.
Painted in a tonal brown wash with ragwork elements and hand painted florals and designs to all surfaces on the front. Piece comprises of 2 parts, the main body and the cornice that is removable. Dated 1812 as hand painted on the architectural cornice.
Double doors are on lift off hinges and open reveal an interior of 3 fixed shelves, one of which has been replaced in later pine, below this are 2 drawers to the bottom which partially conceal themselves behind the doors and can only be opened when the main doors are opened. Working key and latch.
Ideal for use as a kitchen or hallway cupboard.
Minor losses to woodwork from dead inactive and treated worm. Light restoration to back legs to increase stability.
