Thai ceramic covered box from the Sawankhalok kilns of globular persimmon form with pinched foliate rim and sepal stem finial on top decorated in iron brown/black glaze in double bands outlining a foliate scroll vine on the base and abstract spots on the lid with another transparent white glaze having a pleasing blue tinted flash on the shoulder over the exterior save the adjoining rims, inside of the lid, the foot rim and the countersunk base. Lid and base have the same exterior diameter thus lid to base fitting neatly however not a tight fit due to the slight variance of the angled interior base lip.
