Late Victorian Burl Walnut Pedestal Desk with Brown Leather Surface

stunning original circa 1900 late Victorian burl walnut with brown leather writing surface pedestal desk made by Withy Grove Stores LTD Manchester A very good looking and well made antique desk. The top is hand dyed brown with gold leaf tooling, the frame all walnut with burl walnut drawers. The desk was made by and retailed through Withy Grove Stores in Manchester, they were established in 1850 so the desk may be a little older It has what’s called cushion curves, it relates to the nice curve below the recessed top drawers, I’ve never seen this model before, I’ve seen two similar Regency models We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, apart from drawer handle missing its in lovely condition Dimensions: Height 78 cm Width 117cm Depth 64.5cm Legroom Height 59cm Width 46.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
