Greek island terracotta atmospheric pierced hanging lantern Hydra 1993

This handcrafted artisan piece of terracotta pottery, creates a wonderful sheltered lantern for a candle from swathing organic forms and patterned piercing into the body of the form. The resulting quality of light emits a series of dancing dots within the environment that it hangs. The terracotta surface has gently weathered over the subsequent years from its placement within a garden and has taken on the look of some large seed head. A piece like this is very sculptural and will easily be adaptable to the interior or exterior space it floats in from its cabled cord. It has occurred to us that for more permanent lighting the lantern could be hardwired. Weight 3.2kg cable length 58cm
