We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare original 17th century Northern English hand carved from solid oak Wainscot armchair A highly decorative and original piece with turned finials above a moulded and carved back panel, the down swept arms on turned arm supports and a boarded seat with moulded seat rail, on gun barrel forelegs with block feet joined by stretchers The chair is exactly as you wish to find in, unrestored and unaltered, it’s held together with pin nails, every single piece is hand sawn and you can see the saw marks most notedly from the underside We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there is a straight line timber shrinkage split down the middle of the back panel, otherwise it is exactly as it should be Dimensions Height 120 cm Width 63.5 cm Depth 59 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
