This wooden Folk Art made propeller clock is presumed to have originated in England and fashioned into a mantel clock in North America in circa 1960. The propeller has been cut and a wooden base added and a hand wind clock movement added to produce a unique mantel clock. It is not known what model of airplane this propeller would have originated from, but the sides have been painted with the Royal Air Force markings. It was not uncommon that such items as propellers and shell casings etc. were brought back from Europe after the Second World War as souvenirs and made into utilitarian objects such as this example. Please note the clock movement has been over wound and is currently not in working order.
